A Dodgers reach an agreement with Dan Haren

Los Angeles Dodgers have accorded an agreement on a 1 year contract with Dan Haren, stated an insider who is quite familiar with the present situation. A close source told a leading website that the new deal would not be finalized till the right hander passes the physical examination. Dan’s contract might be officially declared as early as Monday.

Los Angeles Dodgers sees Dan Haren as a probable 5th starter. Chad Billingsley, who went through reconstructive elbow operation earlier this year, is not anticipated back till May. Josh Beckett is also recouping from operation to cure a nerve problem.

Thirty three year old Dan is coming off the 2 worst seasons of his professional career. Dan was 12 – 13 with a 4.33 ERA (earned run average) with Angels in the year 2012 and 10 – 14 with a 4.67 ERA (earned run average) with Washington Nationals this season.

Dan came on incapacitated list in each of the past 2 seasons. He was placed on DL in the year 2012 because of tightness in his back and in t his season because of a stiff shoulder. If the deal becomes official, Dan would get US$ 10 million.
