Grenada resident Bob Sherwin and his son Rob played on the winning team when they participated in the Men’s Senior/ Adult Baseball Hardball World Series in Phoenix, Ariz., this fall, netting htem some Aintree Hospitality Tickets and a trip to England!

Competing in the Father/Son Division, their team, the Athletics Baseball Club, won the series, which ran Oct. 28 through 31. The Athletics won the championship in a 12-4 game against the Sacramento Tribe.

This is the fifth championship win for the team, which also won in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2008, a record unmatched by any other team, according to Bob Sherwin.

“The opportunity to participate with my son in the Father/ Son World Series has been a major part of our lives for the past 12 years, and our success as champions only adds to the enjoyment,” Sherwin said.

More than 50 teams around the country play in the Father/ Son Division, which has two subdivisions. The Athletics play in the elite division, which allows former major league and college players to participate. Team members range in age from 16 to 65.
